A Right Royal Weekend

This past weekend, members of the Staple Hill & District Branch of the Royal British Legion commemorated the Coronation in style.


The celebrations commenced with a Friday night branch party for all members and their friends and family. They were entertained by the musical talents of the Mickey Finn Band and provided with a buffet from local caterer, AHM.

On the Saturday the monthly branch breakfast was held at the Lamb inn, Mangotsfield where those attending watched the Coronation proceedings while the Branch Chairman and Secretary were invited to the Palace to witness the procession and momentous balcony appearance of Their Majesties from the grandstand.

On Sunday, some of branch had the privilege of attending the Big Lunch in Page Park alongside the rest of the community,. The event, organised by the Friends of Page Park was testament to the community spirit locally and the hard work of the Friends of Page Park and their volunteers. During this time, two of the members were preparing to enjoy the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle after being selected.

Branch chairman, Ian Campbell expressed his pride in having so many members involved in local and national events:

"It has truly been an historic opportunity that will not be forgotten. I'm proud that we could celebrate locally and attend national events. Huge congratulations to all local groups, particularly my fantastic committee and the Friends of Page Park."

The Staple Hill and District Branch is open to the community to join and take part in all activities.
