In an awe-inspiring display of community spirit, local residents have raised an astounding amount of over £60,000 for the Poppy Appeal, surpassing all previous fundraising targets. This outstanding achievement not only showcases the generosity and solidarity of the local area but illustrates their unwavering commitment to honouring the sacrifices made by servicemen and women.
The local Poppy Appeal which covers, Staple Hill, Downend, Mangotsfield, Fishponds, Frenchay and Lyde Green, serves as a poignant reminder of the bravery and selflessness exhibited by those who have served in the Armed Forces. This year, however, the community took their dedication to a whole new level, breaking all records and achieving a remarkable fundraising milestone.
Businesses, residents, and schoolchildren alike rallied together, passionately wearing their poppies and organising various fundraisers and events throughout the area. A big thank you goes out to all of the volunteers in the local area, particulary those that delivered the hundreds of tins and boxes of poppies and our Deputy Poppy Appeal Organisers who managed our supermarket collections.
The £60,835.23 raised will make a tangible difference in the lives of veterans and their families. These funds will go towards providing vital services, financial assistance, and emotional support to those who have served their country. The unwavering dedication and united effort of local people have ensured that their gratitude extends beyond words, actively improving the lives of those who deserve our eternal gratitude.
