Staple Hill Remembers

On Sunday the 13th of November, the Staple Hill community came together for the annual parade and service of remembrance. Veterans, serving personnel, organisations, youth groups and members of the public marched through Staple Hill and congregated in Page Park for the service which was led by the Salvation Army.

The weather was glorious and the crowds filled the park around the war memorial.

This year, there was a new addition or the order of service. To highlight the generations present at the service, one of the oldest veterans and one of the youngest children laid the first wreath. This was performed by Gordon Wells, veteran of the Merchant Navy and Appolina of Staple Hill Primary School.

It is incredibly important that we continue to honour those that have served our country, and made the ultimate sacrifice.
I want to personally thank everyone that had a part in the organisation of the day and to all the individuals and groups that donated to help cover the costs. Ian Campbell, Chairman of the Staple Hill & District Branch of the Royal British Legion
