The Staple Hill & District Branch are calling on the community for more volunteers.
The local branch of the Royal British Legion that covers a large area, including: Staple Hill, Mangotsfield, Fishponds and Emersons Green are in need of local help.
Ian Campbell is the local branch chairman and Poppy Appeal Organiser
''My volunteers and I cover a huge area with some large supermarkets. I desperately need more people to come forwards and offer to collect for a couple of hours.
I love volunteering for the Poppy Appeal. It's wonderful to hear so many stories from veterans, their families and especially from those that have received support from the money we collect.''
Last year, the RBL raised nearly £48m for more than 1.8 million veterans in the UK.
The charity was founded in 1921 in the aftermath of the First World War and the Poppy Appeal is launched every autumn to raise money.
It provides support for the whole Armed Forces community, helping them get back into work, currently providing grants and advice to cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
